- Intentional Parenting
Intentional Parenting: Autopilot Is for Planes This is about you, not just your child. The book helps you discover first who you are and then takes that healthy person into a discovery of being more intentional, playful, consistent, merciful, and connected to your children. < Back Intentional Parenting This is about you, not just your child. Regardless of age, parenting requires a certain amount of uncertainty. But you can be certain that your children look to you to help them discover who they are. And you can only offer that to the degree that YOU know who you are. Over the years, Sissy Goff, David Thomas, and Melissa Trevathan have helped countless families through their ministry known as Daystar Counseling in Nashville, TN. Due to the unique setup of Daystar, each is frequently counseling not only the child but the parent as well. Having both perspectives provides an opportunity to speak into some of the most common struggles that parents face in today's fast-paced society. Intentional Parenting is built around 12 chapters that each dispel some of the most common parenting myths and reminds all parents of truths that can empower them to be not only the parents that their children need but that God has called them to be. The book helps you discover first who you are and then takes that healthy person into a discovery of being more intentional, playful, consistent, merciful, and connected to your children. Understanding your child. Understanding you.

SOAP is a practical and personal way to engage with Scripture. It stands for Scripture, Observation, Application, and Prayer. As you walk through each step, we encourage you to journal your thoughts. Writing things down helps you remember what God is teaching you and creates a space to reflect on His faithfulness over time. S – Scripture Start by reading a passage of Scripture—don’t rush it. Take your time and invite God to speak as you read. Highlight or write down one verse that stands out to you. This is the verse you’ll focus on during your SOAP time. O – Observation What is happening in this verse? What stands out? Ask the Holy Spirit to give you insight and understanding. Think about what God might be trying to show you. Then, write the verse in your own words and describe what you observe. What’s the context? Who is speaking? What truth is being revealed? A – Application Now make it personal. Ask yourself: “How does this apply to my life today?” Maybe it speaks to a current situation, a mindset shift, or something God is asking you to do. Be honest and specific as you write. The goal is to live out what you’re learning, not just read it. P – Prayer Finish by praying about what you’ve read. Ask God to help you apply it, to change your heart, or to give you strength to follow through. Write your prayer down, and be sure to take a moment to listen. God often speaks when we slow down enough to hear Him.
- OUR BELIEFS | GFC Kerr
Our Beliefs God is the one true God and Jesus Christ is His Son. There is one all powerful God that is the creator of Heaven and Earth. He loved us so much that he sent his Son so we can have a relationship with Him. Jesus Christ is fully God who was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, taught truth, died on a cross, and resurrected from the dead. His same healing power is available for us today. – JOHN 17:3 People sin, God saves. We mess up and the Bible calls it sin. God created us in his own image, but we chose disobedience. We deserve death and separation from God, but by his grace through his Son Jesus we can be forgiven. By trusting God as our Lord and Savior, we can experience freedom and live an amazing life. – ROMANS 6:23 Communion & Water Baptism There are two ways we can remember what Jesus did for us on the cross. Communion is memorial and a celebration. The eucharist consists of two elements: the bread helps reminds of his body and the cup reminds of his blood. The Bible encourages us to follow his example by being immersed in water as soon after we make a decision to follow him. It is a public way for us to show that we are changed. – ACTS 2:41,42 One Eighty Life Style One Eighty Life Style God welcomes us the way we are, but change begins to happen from the inside out. We stop living for ourselves and desire to glorify God by our actions and words. – ROMANS 12:1,2 The Holy Spirit The baptism of the Holy Spirit gives us power to share the good news of Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit convicts the world of sin. He gives us different gifts so we can build up the church and love others. The gifts of the spirit demonstrated in an orderly way are a beautiful and vital part of the church. – ACTS 1:8 The Church The church is filled with authentic followers of Jesus who follow the New Testament church in its four purposes (Worship, Instruction, Fellowship, and Expression). The mission of the church is to become friends with the unconvinced so there may be opportunities for them to become life long followers of Christ. – EPHESIANS 4:12 God's Plan For The End Times The Bible says that Jesus will return to the earth to bring his followers to Heaven. There will be a final judgement in which the dead will be resurrected and judged. Everyone whose name is not in the Book of Life, will be separated for eternity in Hell. Those whose names are written in the Book of Life will be rewarded and spend eternity with other followers in Christ in Heaven. – 1 THESSALONIANS 4:17 Spiritually Engaged- Walking with Jesus We live each moment with the awareness that we are in God’s presence. Our life can be fully devoted to Jesus by loving, talking, listening, reading scripture, journaling, and obeying his voice constantly. Passionate Purpose- Making Disciples The highest honor is becoming friends with someone far from God and helping them become a devoted follower of Christ Jesus who helps someone else do the same. Every person matters to God. Therefore, we show God’s love and concern to everyone at every opportunity by being full of the Spirit of God. Relationally Connected - Resolving Conflict Biblically We strive to cultivate relationships built on love – love that provides encouragement, honesty, approachability, and accountability. We also seek and accept the truth spoken to us in love by resolving conflict biblically through constant forgiveness. Participation Encouraged - Creativity Embraced It is wrong for church to be boring so we will creatively use media and other relevant tools to encourage participant interaction. Ethnic Backgrounds Embraced - Reaching Beyond Ourselves We desire our church to look more like Heaven and celebrate cultural diversity. Team Focused - Serving Together There is no “I” in team. We desire to equip people to make a kingdom impact. Therefore, we envision every person in our church body part of a team, developing and using his/her talents to serve together. The team approach is visible every Sunday from our worship to teaching team. Want to know more about GFC? Click below to Learn More About Us

Only one in every three teens (33 percent) say they are likely to continue to participate in church life once they are living on their own. These alarming numbers bring all kinds of questions to mind: What can the church do to develop spiritually strong kids? How can Kids Ministry Leaders work with parents to keep kids in church? What tools will help us provide adequate spiritual training? With over thirty years of kids ministry experience, David Boyd is a reliable source for answers to questions like these. Based on eight major goals, he provides insight and information on how to help kids become believers who are strong enough to last the most difficult challenges of life.
